WHAT IS THE SAMPOERNA ACADEMY MERIT SCHOLARSHIP?

The Sampoerna Academy Merit Scholarship is our way to encourage and recognize students with outstanding performance and impeccable personalities. 

The awardees are selected for their exemplary character, positive personal values, and love for learning. They must also demonstrate Sampoerna Academy’s IGNITE values (Innovation, a Growth-mindset, Nobility, Integrity, Teamwork, and Excellence) in their studies.

The awardees will receive tuition fee assistance* for one year. The awardees’ scholarship eligibility will be reviewed annually.

 *in the form of 25%-100% discount and excluding other fees, such as fees for uniforms, books, external exams, etc

SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. The candidate must be an Indonesian citizen.
  2. The candidate must be a student currently enrolled at Sampoerna Academy or a student currently enrolled at other schools.
  3. The candidate must be a student currently in Grades 4-11
  4. The candidate must exhibit a superior performance which can be measured by some or all of the following indicators. However, other success metrics may be considered as well.
    • The candidate has achieved outstanding scores/grades, as shown by:
        • A grades for all subjects, or
        • For IB Students in Grade 11, IB predicted scores of 6 points in all examinable subjects (minimum) 
    • The candidate receives minimum 85% percentile in the MAP Test in both English and Math subjects.
    • The candidate shows a good behavioral standing.
    • The candidate has won competitions/received medals.
    • The candidate has an active leadership record in school or community, locally, or globally.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

The Sampoerna Academy Merit Scholarship applicants must submit:

  1. Report cards, school records, and transcripts
  2. MAP Result/Grade (Grade 4-10); Cambridge Exams Results/Checkpoint and IGCSE (incoming Grade 7, Grade 9, and Grade 11)
  3. Certificates/photos of awards in local, national, and international competitions
  4. Certificates/letters from organizations/clubs or other types of supporting evidence of leadership roles in school, local, national, or international organizations
  5. IGNITE Award from the previous year or any equivalent award from the previous school
  6. STEAM Award from the previous year or equivalent award (could be a science project) from the previous school
  7. Min. two recommendation letters from a teacher/principal/coach/counselor

Notes:

    • An MAP test will be scheduled for students currently not enrolled at Sampoerna Academy if they apply for the scholarship.
    • Students currently enrolled at Sampoerna Academy do not need to submit points no. 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7.

  • Am I eligible to apply for the scholarship?

To be a scholarship candidate, you must be an Indonesian citizen. You must be a student currently in Grades 4-11 enrolled at Sampoerna Academy or a student currently enrolled at other schools. For more details, please see the Selection Criteria section.

  • What benefits will I receive as a scholarship awardee?

The awardees will receive tuition fee assistance in the form of 25%-100% discount (excluding other fees, such as fees for uniforms, books, external exams, etc.)

  • How long will I be entitled of the benefits as a scholarship awardee

The awardees’ scholarship eligibility is valid for one year. This eligibility will be reviewed annually.

  • Do I need to take specific tests to be selected?

If you’re a student at Sampoerna Academy, you don’t need to take any test. The test results needed for consideration are already recorded by the school.

However, if you’re a student enrolled at another school, you need to provide an MAP Result/Grade (Grade 4-10); Cambridge Exams Results/Checkpoint and IGCSE (incoming Grade 7, Grade 9, and Grade 11). An MAP test will be scheduled for you if you apply for the scholarship.

  • How do I apply for the scholarship?

To apply for the scholarship, click [here] and fill in the Google Form. State your intention to apply for the scholarship. Our Admission/Recruitment Team will contact your guardians to discuss the application process.
