Why Choose the IBDP at Sampoerna Academy

The IBDP offers a challenging and comprehensive curriculum that is designed to develop students’ critical thinking, research, and self-management skills. Students who participate in the programme have the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary studies, explore global issues, and learn from diverse perspectives. Additionally, the programme encourages students to take an active role in their own education and to develop their own personal and academic goals.

The IBDP is a rigorous programme that requires a high level of commitment and dedication from both students and staff. However, the rewards for those who participate are well worth the effort. Our students who have completed the programme have gone on to attend some of the most prestigious universities in the world and have excelled in their chosen fields.

What is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme?

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a highly respected and internationally recognized educational program that is typically taken by high school students.

The programme is designed to develop critical thinking, research, and self-management skills in students, and provides a comprehensive and challenging curriculum that covers a wide range of subjects.

The curriculum includes six subject groups, including languages, sciences, mathematics, humanities, and the arts, and students are required to take at least one course from each of the groups.

Additionally, students must complete a core component, which includes the theory of knowledge course, an extended essay, and Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) activities.

The IBDP is known for its emphasis on interdisciplinary studies, global perspectives, and independent thinking. Students are encouraged to take an active role in their own education and to develop their own personal and academic goals.

The programme is recognized by universities around the world and is often considered to be a prestigious and highly challenging educational experience.

Students who complete the IBDP are awarded the International Baccalaureate Diploma, which is recognized by universities and employers as evidence of a high level of academic achievement and intellectual maturity.

The Success Rate of the IBDP

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) uses a combination of internal and external assessments to evaluate the success of its students. Students are not only required to take exams that test their knowledge of the course material, but also to demonstrate their analytical, problem-solving and presentation skills through various assessments.

Studies have shown that students who successfully complete the IBDP are more likely to attend prestigious universities compared to those who do not participate in the program.

How the IBDP Adds Value for Students

Enrolling in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) at Sampoerna Academy can provide students with a variety of advantages, including:

  • Acquiring 21st century skills that will prepare them for success in the global economy. Through the IBDP, students will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on learning experiences and collaborative exercises that help them develop teamwork and communication skills.
  • Opportunities to take classes at different levels of academic rigor. For example, students can choose to enroll in Higher Level courses if they want a more challenging and intense experience in a particular subject. These courses often include additional material, more hands-on or laboratory work, and may require students to gather data, conduct research, and analyze their findings. This prepares students for the demands of university-level education.
  • Providing students with the flexibility to align their personal interests with their academic and career aspirations. The IBDP gives students the freedom to choose courses that align with their strengths and passions.
  • Promoting a mindset of open-mindedness. The interdisciplinary nature of the IBDP courses encourages students to think globally and to consider the perspectives of others when making decisions.
